Health Expo
Spring 2009 Health Expo to be held April
18, 2009!
The Family Health Expo is an annual event that has been
coordinated by the Partnership for several years. The
expo provides health screenings and educational materials to
the general public. Children enjoy learning activities
sponsored by Parents As Teachers as well as demonstrations on
safety. The expo is supported by local businesses,
organizations, and agencies. Held in the Spring, the
April, 2008 Family Health Expo provided
mammograms, blood sugar,
cholesterol, and vision screenings; Missouri child ID packets,
and had more than 60 exhibits with information on
accessing local resources to support family health and mental
health. Donations and in-kind support brought more than
$39,000 in goods and services to the fair. Next program
year the Health Expo will be held on April 18, 2009 at Mineral
Area College Field House from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Make
A Difference Day
Celebrated
in October, communities across the nation are asked to
coordinate volunteers in a project benefiting their community
in honor of Make A Difference Day. Last year SFCCP
coordinated a food drive and distributed the proceeds to the
area's five food pantries. Eight local grocery stores
participated in the event by displaying posters and allowing
volunteers to collect goods purchased for donation to local
pantries. Next event: October 2009. We invite your
family, group, business, church or organization to host a food
drive during the month of October and deliver the items to the
food pantry of your choice.
Season of
Hope
Since
1999, Caring Communities has coordinated a
countywide effort to provide all the children of St. Francois
County with a joyous holiday. This is such an exciting
and fulfilling community-wide effort serving children who live
in no-to-low income families. It is accomplished through
the coordinated efforts of the entire community. Click
